Recommendation Post: YA Books

In light of the ridiculousness that is Twitter, I wanted to recommend my favorite YA books that I, as a 25 year old adult, read and adored.

Can you.. can you hear the sarcasm?

I love YA because it’s amazing. There’s nothing specific that I enjoy, I just love the whole community, the endless series, the silly little tropes, everything. Truthfully, I never really read YA when I was ‘in the demographic’. I wish I would of and I wish I would of spent less time reading Adult books because I somehow thought they were better or more mature.

Seriously, most of the YA books I have read deal with some pretty intense topics, and I don’t think they should be disregarded just because the intended reader is a few years younger then me.

Who cares?

Anyways, before this turns into more of a rant post then a recommendation… check out these books that I, as an adult, loved.

YA alien romances. One of the best parts of YA in my opinion. These three are all ones that I absolutely adored. I’ve reread Alienated and Obsidian multiple times. (Plus all the books in the series)

Paranormal YA.

Of course I had to add Twilight. So yes, Twilight is not the best YA, it’s like a nostalgia thing tbh. BUT Twilight is a fantastic example of a YA book that gets ridiculously popular and loved by people of all ages.

Fantasy YA. These are three Fantasy novels that I loved. Red Queen is classified as both fantasy and dystopian, but I’m going to go with fantasy for this list. I actually don’t read a ton of fantasy, so it’s kind of hard to grab some that I haven’t recently read and reviewed.

Contemporary YA.

I don’t know if you’ve ever actually sat down and read contemporary YA, but it deals with some serious shit. I seriously wish I had some of these books when I was going through this stuff as a teen.

But even still. There is no way on this green earth that it is harming me in any way, shape or form to read them now as an adult.

And here’s just a bunch of other YA books that I read and adored. It’s already almost 4AM and I should really go to bed, so I’m not separating these into genres or anything.

So basically just this: Read whatever you want. Read YA, NA, Adult, Non-Fiction, Fiction, magazines, articles, textbooks, a fucking menu. It shouldn’t matter because reading is amazing, and it’s unbelievably beneficial to both the physical and mental health of a person.

You do you, Baby Boo. And screw whatever other people say.
