When MacKayla’s sister was murdered, she left a single clue to her death, a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone. Journeying to Ireland in search of answers, Mac is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to master a power she had no idea she possessed – a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae.
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho…while at the same time, the ruthless V’lane – an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women – closes in on her. As the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: to find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book – because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control both worlds in their hands.

This was an E-Book
Have you ever read a book by this author before?
No. First book.
Genre?
Paranormal/Urban Fantasy
Star Rating?
Rereadable?
Dear god, no.
If this is a series, would you continue reading it?
This is a big big maybe. I was recommended this book/series by so many people.
Is this a part of a challenge?
I chose this book as my tough book challenge for March because I tried to read it before but I was so bored I needed something to push me to read it.
Who would you recommend this for?
Someone who has more patience for world building then I do.
In all seriousness, someone who loves urban fantasy mixed with some mythology would love this.
Conclusion
As much as I wanted to love this, I’m not quite sure this series is for me. I didn’t find it was bad, by any means but it was just so so slow. Whenever something started finally picking up, the author started this strange dialogue as if Mac was telling us her story after the fact and just glossed over all the interesting bits. It was kind of annoying.
If this series gets better as it goes along, please let me know. The writing and concept is very much enjoyable, but the pacing definitely wasn’t for me. I’m curious to try the authors other series to see if I feel the same.
Until next time,

I’m thinking of it. I was disappointed with how little romance was involved in the first book. Hopefully the second is better.
