Existence by Abbi Glines

13223520What happens when you’re stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.

Pagan Moore doesn’t cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.

Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn’t let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he’s dead.

Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn’t realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.

He is Death and he’s about to break all the rules

“My beautiful soul,” he murmured and caressed my cheek. “When you gave the ultimate selfless sacrifice, it paid for my wrong. You proved to be worthy of my devotion. Of Death’s… love.”

It’s definitely in the plan.

Is this a part of a challenge?
This is a part of my #ASeriesAMonth2018 challenge

Who would you recommend this for?
Anyone who loves paranormal romances like Fallen, Lux series, Twilight, it all follows the same kind of forbidden love, angsty romance.

Conclusion:

This was such a quick, enjoyable read. I read it in around 3 hours and I enjoyed every second of it.

You don’t really get a deep dive connection with any of the characters, but I really did love Pagan and Miranda the most. It was nice to see a little female friendship thrown into a paranormal romance.

For most of the book, you’re kind of wondering wtf is going on. It doesn’t really explain what Dank is until the very end of the book. Also, seriously, what kind of name is Dank? All I could think about the entire time is a particular green, almost legal substance. Anyways, that’s besides the point.

This is definitely one of those insta-love, insta-connection novels that are just perfect for binge-reading the series in a day or two. I am definitely looking forward to reading more. I wasn’t crazy about the love triangle, because to be perfectly honest, Pagan was basically cheating on Leif the whole novel and I’m really not for that scene. I hate cheating in romance novels.
