The Secret Life of a Blogger

Thank you so much to Teagan and Jess from Fiction No Chaser for tagging me in this Book Tag! If you want to read some pretty hilarious posts, go check them out. They’re my kind of people ❤

How long have you been a blogger?

I am actually going on 8 months since I started Perpetual Fangirl. I honestly can’t believe it! My little baby blog is almost a year old!

At what point do you think you will stop?

When there’s no more books to read.

So never.

What’s the best thing?

Definitely the community. I have met and made friends with so many wonderful people through blogging. Their friendships have become invaluable to me and I can’t imagine not talking to some of them nearly every day ❤ This community is unbelievably supportive. I honestly never expected it.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

I find with book blogging the worst thing is the pressure I put on myself. I feel like I’m not posting enough, not interacting enough with other blogs, my posts should be longer, shorter, more interesting, more sarcastic, less sarcastic. It’s basically just me being a jerk to myself. The best way to make it okay is to just post what I can and try not to focus on stats or engagement. It’s hard sometimes, but I need to just post what I want to post and I will get followers or I won’t. It just is what it is.

How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

I use two things on my blog: Goodreads cover photos and gif’s from giphy. I don’t create shit. I suck at artistic things.

Who is your book crush?

Hands down, Daemon from the Lux series.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Jennifer Armentrout. Is that even a question? Although, I think 90% of the time would just be me fangirling and I’d never be able to think of questions to ask because holy hell she’s amazing and I love every single one of her books and characters.

K… I’ll stop now.

What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

Uhm… clothes?

I work from home, so my clothing consists of leggings, jogging pants, tank tops, and sweaters. No fancy shit here.

How long does it take you to prepare?

Essentially as soon as I finish reading a book, I open up my laptops, get the general set up done and then start writing the blog post. It has to be as soon as I’m finished the book, though, that’s when everything is much clearer. Each blog post maybe takes about 30-45 minutes depending on how much I have to say about the book in question.

How do you feel about the book blogging community/culture?

The people that I have associated myself with are absolutely fantastic. I know there is some drama around the book community but I stay as far away from that as possible.

What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Good question. Can someone let me know?

If anyone is just just starting out, the best advice I could give them is to get involved with the community. Follow people, communicate, retweet or share blog posts, just generally be a nice person and friend. Other than that, write what you want to write. The community of followers who you get on your blog will be the type of people you want to be around and have a lot in common with.

Thank you again to Jess and Teagan!
