A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

16096824

Feyre’s survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price …

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre’s presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

There are those who seek me a lifetime but never we meet,
And those I kiss but who trample me beneath ungrateful feet.
At times I seem to favor the clever and the fair,
But I bless all those who are brave enough to dare.
By large, my ministrations are soft-handed and sweet,
But scorned, I become a difficult beast to defeat,
For though each of my strikes land a powerful blow,
When I kill, I do it slow…

Conclusion:

There’s so much I want to say about this book, but almost every single point I want to make is a spoiler. And I try my best to write spoiler-free reviews, so I can’t make those points.

Once you read through the entire series, go back and read it again. I am finding that my view on everything that has happened has changed SO much because I know major plot points in the following novels.

Like Rhysand.. and Lucian.. and Tamlin and basically just everyone. I see them so much different.

I read ToG by Sarah J. Maas, but her writing didn’t sit with me at all. I wasn’t crazy about the characters or the story line. But ACOTAR is absolutely fantastic. I love Feyre and all the characters and creatures. It’s taking everything in my power not to just start reading A Court of Mist and Fury right now, but it’s a buddy read, so I have to wait a bit.

There’s not a whole lot more that can be said about this novel at this point. If you haven’t read it, read it. If you have read it, read the other books haha It’s so amazing. I loved everything about reading this. It’s such an action packed book with a fascinating history, wonderfully flawed characters and a whole lot of romance.
