Back in high school, Lee Archer had the power to make Jessie Baxter’s cheeks flush and her heart race. But the popular athlete never wanted to be more than just friends. Ten years later, after a failed marriage and with her journalism career on shaky ground, Jessie’s come home for her high school reunion—and Lee still has the power to make her knees weak and her pulse pound.
Lee’s teenage years were filled with more trauma and drama than anyone guessed. Though his damaged past has helped make him a successful police detective, it’s hurt every relationship he’s tried. But seeing the grown-up, stunning Jessie might just change his commitment-phobic mind.
Jessie’s psycho ex-husband had her convinced no one would ever love her, but Lee is ready to step out of the friend zone and into her heart. Can she learn to trust again before she loses her chance to turn her first crush into her last love?
Elizabeth McKenna’s novel will have you remembering the angst of high school, the grief of a failed relationship, and the joy of finding true love at last.

No.
Who would you recommend this for?
Anyone who loves romance. YA, NA, Adult.. this book kind of encompasses everything.
Conclusion:
Good freaking lord.. this was cuuute!
I keep avoiding books that are written in unconventional ways because I tend to hate them. So it kind of made me weary when I received this book and it was split into three parts and the chapters only covered a month or a day. I was worried that I would hate it.. but I did not. At all.
The first part is them in High School, the second is College/Working and the third is at their 10 year High School Reunion.
I loved Jessie and Lee’s story. They were so different, and yet their friendship was so freaking adorable. Surprisingly, I liked that they didn’t reconnect until later. I enjoyed reading about them having their own separate lives before reconnecting at a later date.
Jessie was a fantastic main character. It took her a while to build her back bone but once she did, she was strong as hell and amazing. Lee was the best. He was a jock in school but was dealing with his own broken home life. I loved that the characters weren’t perfect and really had a lot of work to do on themselves before they could come together.
I would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a feel good Happily Ever After. My heart is happy ❤
