When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and sheāll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonightāthe perfect place for a āchanceā meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beckās life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beckās perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their wayāeven if it means murder

Conclusion:
You know, usually the books I read tend to be fluffy romances. The T.V. shows I watch tend to be true crime or crime documentaries. For some reason, I never thought about reading books about crime. But this book… it fucked with my head.
I seriously felt like I was on the other side of a Criminal Minds episode. Joe was creepy as hell. The narrator of the audio book played the part so freaking well I had to listen to it on 1.8x so it didn’t creep me out. Even then, I only listened to 10 chapters on audio before I had to switch back to reading.
I think what made this book so effective was how it was written. The fact that Joe was basically talking to Beck the entire time he developed a sick obsession with her made this novel so much better.
The whole story was intense, creepy and I 100% want to read the sequel. This isn’t normally my thing, but I’m here for it.
It’s summer.. the days are too bright, time to add some creepiness and get those fall vibes back.
