The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout

34221193
When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen…but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she’d only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head…

#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old.

*I received a copy for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I’m just going to skip my usual set up. You guys know that I’ve read every single one of JLA’s books. You know it’s a five star and you know I’m going to recommend the book to everyone.

Literally my convo with hubby:

What can I say? I’m predictable AF.

But what you don’t know is that this book can easily be my favorite book of 2018. I’m actually not kidding at all. Jennifer has freaking outdone herself with this one.

The way this book twists and ties with the original Lux series literally made me stop reading for a second. Like…

Mind. Freaking. Blown.

Oh god.. there’s so much I want to talk about but I can’t spoil anything!

Luc is still the same little jerk face that he was in the original series, except now he’s not so little anymore. Which is kind of weird to read at first.. but you get over it pretty quick.

Evie is amazing. And once you find out everything about her.. holy alien babies everywhere, you’re in for a freaking shock. She’s an amazing character and I absolutely loved her. There’s at a point that she got mildly annoying, but most female MC’s get on my nerves at some point or another. I understand why she acted the way she did, but I didn’t like it. Which actually makes me love her more ’cause she’s not the perfect little innocent MC.

I absolutely adored how characters from the original series popped up. I didn’t see enough Daemon sass for my liking, but at least you got to see archer too. Kind of totally makes up for it.

I’m excited to see what other characters pop up in the rest of this series.

Let’s just say this… you know how you go into a book expecting a certain something, and then it just completely blows what you were expecting out of the water because it’s like… fifty thousand times better? Yeah, that was this.

I will always always love the Lux series and this is a freaking perfect addition to it.

I’m absolutely in love.

Will definitely be rereading this probably a few times, it was that freaking good.

  1. Ahhhhh I’m so curious for this book but I haven’t finished the Lux series yet! They are being translated into Dutch now and the last one will be out in January I suppose. I hope the publisher picks this one up too. I can read them in English, but I want to support the Dutch translations since it took years to get this series here after high demand. I will go to this book once Opposition is out here and I read that one. Because trust me I will read that one soon after release! Opal will be out in a few weeks though.

      2. I wish i would’ve done a reread right before i read TDS. Which means I totally need to reread the entire series and then TDS. I’m not complaining though 😂

I dont think its completely necessary, but Opposition is amazing so 🤷‍♀️
