What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula? Five years after the (twisted) events of the film, Ariel is now the queen of Atlantica, and Ursula is running Eric’s kingdom on land. But when the sea witch threatens Atlantica once more, Ariel finds herself returning to a world (and a prince) she thought she’d left behind forever.

Conclusion:
Going into this, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. I love my fairytales, I love my fairytale retellings. But using the same characters and essentially continuing (plus modifying?) the plot of the movies that I’ve known and loved since I was a kid? Yeah, wasn’t too sure about that.
The only thing that I really wasn’t crazy about is that I found the author changed the characters personalities way too much. Even Ursula wasn’t as psychotic as she was in the movie and that was kind of disappointing.
The chapters jump around a lot because you follow a ton of different characters. Now normally I hate that, but for this is worked so so well. Even the storyline fit in with exactly what you would think would happen. It was perfectly fairytale-esque and so so much fun to read.

Until next time!
This has me intrigued! My kids loved The Little Mermaid growing up but I have not read the books. This may be an interesting read for me.
