31847656What if Belle’s mother cursed the Beast? As Old as Time is the third book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. When Belle touches the Beast’s enchanted rose, memories flood through Belle’s mind—memories of a mother she thought she would never see again. And, stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful enchantress who cursed the castle and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast will have to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is 21 years in the making.

Not really.

If it’s a series, would you continue reading it?
I’m curious to check out some of the other retellings by this author.

Who would you recommend this for?
Anyone who loves Beauty and the Beast.

Conclusion:

This author seems to do a really good job at sticking to the story, but also giving something new to keep it interesting. The story is written in typical fairytale fashion, but it just gives you more. Although, I definitely wanted more.

The ending just seemed to cut off without giving you the ending you wanted. There was still a couple things to figure out, and they just didn’t. It was a happily ever after. Or happily enough. I don’t know.. I really enjoyed this but I found it a little lacking.

Belle was definitely OoC in this one. The author took her artistic liberties with Belle’s character. It wasn’t bad… just different. She was definitely a stronger character than in the original movie.

Well, all the characters were a little different.

I love Beauty and the Beast retellings and this really did give me mostly what I wanted.
