ARC Review|From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

52831200._SY475_A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

I have to be honest here…
When I found out Jennifer was writing a fantasy novel, I was cautiously curious about it. But at the same time, I am complete trash for her writing so i knew I would love it.
And of course, I did.
I don’t think I have read anything NEAR this novel before. I’ve read a ton of vampire books and this is completely different.
FB&A has so many twists and turns, I didn’t know which was was up half the time. All of the characters managed to get under your skin in someway or another… negatively and positively.
I looved Vikter so much! He’s a great character that just wants to protect Poppy. He helped turn her into a complete bad ass.
Hawke and Poppy are definitely my new OTP.  Hawke is… well… no spoilers of course but just you freaking wait.
I had SUCH a hard time keeping hush about this book and could not wait until it released! The day is finally here and I’m ready to scream from the rooftops that everyone needs to read this. If you love ACOTAR, read it. If you love vampire books, read it. If you love JLA, definitely read it. Romance, fantasy, bad ass heroines and swoony heroes. Just freaking read it. You’ll thank me!
This is a high fantasy without the long dragged out descriptions and flowery writing. But it does not harm the world building.
I don’t even think I’m putting into words properly how much I love this book. I don’t think it’s possible to describe!
Also that FREAKING COVER! I’m in LOVE!
Five billion stars.
